It is often hard to pull back from the inertia of life and stop, even for a moment, to experience the beauty around us. The children know. They stop, they look at the autumn leaves glowing in the sunshine, they smell the sweet fragrance of the wild sage flowers as they walk along the path to the house, they pick wildflowers as we urge them to hurry up, we have to be somewhere. Maybe it is us who need to slow down, to listen to their voices, to give them a hug and to say, "I love you".
